Every year the invisible weather of a home changes. A corner that felt calm in 2026 can pick up a different kind of energy in 2027, and a spot you avoided for twelve months may quietly become one of the most supportive in the house. As a classical practitioner 風水師 (fēngshuǐ shī) who has walked through many Malaysian homes, shophouses and offices, I treat the annual review as housekeeping: know what the year brings, adjust lightly, and leave the rest alone.
This guide covers feng shui 2027 in practical terms: where the Tai Sui 太岁 (Tài Suì), the Year Breaker 岁破 (Suì Pò) and the Three Killings 三煞 (Sān Shā) sit, the full annual Flying Star chart 玄空飞星 (Xuánkōng fēixīng), what each sector asks of you, and a room-by-room list of small remedies. Nothing here needs renovation or expensive items. Most of it is about where you sit, where you sleep and what you leave undisturbed.
One honest caution first. The annual stars are only one layer. Your home’s natal chart, set by its facing direction and the period it was built, and the BaZi 八字 (Bāzì) of the people living in it, carry more weight than any yearly forecast. Think of this article as the weather report, and your own house chart as the building the weather arrives at.
2027 at a Glance: The Fire Goat Year
2027 is 丁未年 (Dīng Wèi Nián), the year of the Fire Goat. The Heavenly Stem 丁 is Yin Fire, the lamp-flame rather than the open sun of 2026’s 丙 Fire Horse. The Earthly Branch 未 is a dry Earth branch that stores Fire. The year stays warm but turns gentler, more domestic and more inward: a lamp in a quiet room rather than a bonfire.
Chinese New Year falls on Saturday 6 February 2027, but classical feng shui does not turn the year on the lunar date. The feng shui year changes at Lichun 立春 (Lìchūn), the Start of Spring, around 4 February 2027. Use Lichun as the boundary for timing a door change or a bed move. We are also in Period 9 九运 (Jiǔ Yùn), 2024 to 2043, ruled by the Fire trigram 離 (Lí). In Period 9 terms, 9 is the currently prosperous star, 1 is the coming prosperous star, and 8, the great wealth star of the last period, is retreating: still positive, but weaker than before. That ranking shapes how I read several sectors below.
Tai Sui, Sui Po and the Three Killings
These three come before the stars, because they are about what not to disturb. In a Goat year the Tai Sui, the “Grand Duke” who presides over the year, sits in the Goat sector. The Year Breaker sits directly opposite, and the Three Killings follow the Goat’s triad 亥卯未 (Pig, Rabbit, Goat).

Two practical points. “Disturb” means meaningful, noisy, structural work such as breaking floors or knocking down walls; hanging a picture is not the concern. And these are compass sectors, not whole rooms: in a typical terrace or condominium unit each occupies one corner, and your own compass reading decides which. 2027 Annual Flying Stars
The Flying Star system moves nine stars through the nine palaces of the Lo Shu 洛书 (Luòshū) each year. The annual centre star decreases by one every year: 3 in 2024, 2 in 2025, 1 in 2026, and 9 in 2027. From the centre the stars fly in a fixed order: Northwest, West, Northeast, South, North, Southwest, East, Southeast. The grid below has North at the top.

The Five Yellow 五黃 (Wǔ Huáng) in the North is the most feared annual star. It means obstruction and setbacks, not disaster. The rule is simple: no drilling or major rearranging on the North side. The traditional cure is Metal, which weakens Earth, so I place a brass or copper bowl or a plain metal ornament there. I do not recommend noisy wind chimes; a chime that rings all night adds noise to a star that prefers stillness.
The Two Black 二黑 (Èr Hēi) in the West is the classical illness star, and again Metal weakens it. Because the West also carries the Three Killings, it is the sector to keep calmest. If a bedroom, a baby’s cot or an elderly relative’s bed sits in the West, that is worth a closer look rather than a panic.
The Three Jade 三碧 (Sān Bì) in the Northeast is handled mostly by behaviour: do not make this corner the stage for arguments, tense negotiations or family disputes. The Seven Red 七赤 (Qī Chì) in the East asks for good locks, tidy valuables and cool tempers.
The One White 一白 (Yī Bái) in the Northwest deserves attention. In Period 9 it is the coming prosperous star, and the Northwest is also the sector of the household head and of mentors. The Eight White 八白 (Bā Bái) in the Southeast is still a wealth star, but treat it as a steady helper rather than a jackpot. The Nine Purple 九紫 (Jiǔ Zǐ) in the centre, the reigning star of Period 9, affects the whole home, so a dark or cluttered heart wastes it.
What Changes From 2026
The annual centre steps down from 1 to 9. The biggest practical change is the Five Yellow, which moves from the South in 2026 to the North in 2027. If you placed a Metal remedy in the South last year, move it to the North, and the South, now carrying the 4 Green, is free for study, reading and ordinary family life. The Tai Sui moves from the South to the South-Southwest, and the Year Breaker from the North to the North-Northeast. The Three Killings leave the North for the West. So the North is no longer a Year Breaker or Three Killings sector; it is “just” the Five Yellow sector, while the West becomes the one to keep quiet. Best Sectors for Work, Wealth and Rest in 2027
These are the places I would look first, assuming your natal chart does not say otherwise.
Work and career. The Northwest (1 White) is the strongest choice for a desk or home-office corner. The South (4 Green) suits study, writing and design work, and the Southeast (8 White) is steady for income-related tasks. For workplaces, see my feng shui office guide.

Rest. Bedrooms away from the North (Five Yellow), West (Two Black, Three Killings) and Northeast (Three Jade, Sui Po side) are easier this year. If your bedroom is in one of those, do not move house. Keep the floor clear, the lighting soft, and a Metal object on a shelf rather than beside your head.
Family time. The centre, South and Southeast are friendly sectors for dining and living areas, and warm, welcoming light suits the 9 Purple.
Quick Remedies by Room
Remedies work best when small, quiet and practical. I would rather you do three of these well than ten carelessly.
- Living room: keep the centre clear and bright. Put a brass or copper bowl on a shelf in the North corner of the room, and keep the TV and speakers away from West and Northeast corners.
- Main door: keep it clean, well lit and free of shoe piles. If it faces North, West or Northeast, check the natal chart first, then use a small Metal item and good lighting rather than major changes.
- Bedroom: in the North, West or Northeast, keep the bed away from the afflicted corner, avoid rapid furniture changes and drilling, and keep the room calm.
- Kitchen: keep North or West kitchens clean and ventilated. Fire feeds Earth, which feeds the 2 and 5 stars, so fix leaks and tidy rather than alter.
- Study and home office: a desk in the Northwest or South is best, with a solid wall behind you. In the East, keep documents organised and avoid heated calls.

Who Needs Extra Care This Year
Directional afflictions apply to a place. Tai Sui offences apply to a person by birth animal. In 2027, four signs need a little extra care: the Goat (sitting Tai Sui plus the Ox-Dog-Goat punishment), the Ox (clash with the Goat plus the same punishment), the Dog (the punishment trio) and the Rat (Harm with the Goat). Why Your Own Home Chart Still Matters
Everything above describes a year, not a house. The annual stars are visiting stars: they arrive in each sector and interact with the resident stars of your home’s natal chart, and that interaction decides what the sector actually feels like. A sector carrying the 8 White this year might sit on a supportive natal combination and become a real asset, or on a difficult one and add little. The Five Yellow in the North can be mild in one house and sharp in another, which is why two neighbours with similar floor plans but different facing directions can have different years.
To use this guide properly:
- Take a compass reading of your main door and facing direction, standing outside and away from metal. A phone compass near a fridge or steel door is unreliable.
- Divide your floor plan into nine sectors using the bagua map approach and mark North.
- Overlay the 2027 stars from the table above.
- Note which bedrooms, kitchen, study and entrance fall in the North, West, Northeast, SSW and NNE.
- Make small, quiet adjustments there first, and leave the rest.
